Meet Pastor Shawn

Pastor Shawn Berkebile has faithfully served St. John's Lutheran Church for the past 16 years. He and his wife, Rachel, live in Spring Grove with their three children: Andrew, Elizabeth, and Clara.
Pastor Shawn is a graduate of Susquehanna University, where he now serves on the Board of Trustees, and earned his Master of Divinity from United Lutheran Seminary.
In addition to his pastoral ministry, Pastor Shawn enjoys staying active in the community. He coaches youth soccer, volunteers as a marching band parent, and serves on the Board of Directors for New Hope Ministries. Behind the scenes, he plays a vital role in the organization and leadership of many ministries within the church.

Meet Deacon Amy

Deacon Amy Mambu began her service with St. John's in 2021 as Director of Christian Education. Since then, her work has expanded to include community service, outreach, and worship leadership. Amy's previous work experiences include outdoor ministry, faith formation, and service and outreach. Amy is a graduate of Wartburg Theological Seminary, where she studied Diaconal Ministry. Her undergraduate studies included French, Religion, and Theater at Susquehanna University. Deacon Amy lives in Hanover with her spouse Daniel and their child Zoey.

Worship Schedule: At St. John’s Lutheran Church, we worship every Sunday at 10:15am. Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday. 

Holy Communion    
St. John's celebrates the Lord's Supper every Sunday.  St. John’s Lutheran Church practices Eucharistic hospitality. All baptized persons are invited to the Lord’s table, to receive the Lord’s body and blood for the forgiveness of sin and renewal of life. As a sign of the unity the sacrament gives us, we all share the same elements. If you are unable to receive the bread, due to a food allergy, be assured that in a single element you receive the Real Presence of Christ and the gifts of the sacrament. Grape juice is available for those who require an alternative. Young children and others who do not commune are invited and welcome to come forward for a blessing.  

Volunteer Opportunities during Worship: There are many opportunities to serve during the worship service. You are an important part of our church family and we appreciate your time and talents. You can serve as an Acolyte, Usher, Lector, Greeter, Communion Assistant, or help in the Nursery or the Altar Guild.
