September 18th...What a Sunday!!

On Sunday, September 18th our church community made an incredible statement of faith. With no warning, with no planning, I had the acolytes walk around two baskets asking for donations to help those in need. Let’s just say I was amazed…no shocked really, at how you, as a community responded. We collected more than $700 and it was such a joyful opportunity for me to place those two baskets in front of the altar, giving thanks to God. You see, I shouldn’t really be surprised, because time and time again our community of faith goes way beyond my expectations. After serving you, as pastor, for more than two year, you would think I would be able to read the congregation a little better, but being Wowed time and time again is a wonderful feeling.

The money gathered will go directly into Touch of Grace Fund, a community outreach fund. With this additional money, we will purchase gifts cards for the grocery store and Rutter’s for gas.  These cards will then be given to those in greatest need.

As I look at it, I have an amazing job that allows me to meet people and share with them your gifts of generosity. $40 can feed a family for a month. A $20 gas card can get someone to work for several weeks. Thank you for allowing me to serve you in such amazing ways. Thank you for opening up your hearts for those who need our help the most. I hope to be surprised…no shocked, again real soon. See you in church!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Shawn
